Buttons

Buttons allow you to link a button to an external website, an internal page in your site, or to a file.

There are actually 3 different button blocks, this tutorial is for "buttons"

Add A Button

  1. Insert a new block
  2. Click on the white plus sign
  3. search for buttons
  4. click on the buttons icon

Putting Content In The Button

There are two parts to the button content, the label (what people see) and where it goes.

To update the label just click into the button and type. Being succinct but instructional is recommended.

To set what the button links to, click the link icon while the button is selected and either paste your link or start typing the title of a post or page.

Adding More Buttons

Select the parent container for buttons and you will see a plus sign in the bottom right corner of the block. Click that to add a button.

Please note that if you are going to add more than two or three buttons, then the button list is likely a better block for you.

Deleting A Button

You can delete a specific button, or all the buttons at once. To delete a specific button, select it, hit the three dots on the right of the toolbar and select "delete". To delete all the buttons at once, select the parent container, and then hit the three dot and select delete. You can do this in the edit screen or in the list view of blocks on the left.

Reordering Buttons

To reorder buttons, click on the one that you want to move, and then move it left or right with the arrow buttons.

Buttons Properties

There are properties that you can set in the right side property panel for buttons as a whole (with the parent container selected) or individually (with a specific button selected).

Parent properties: justification, orientation and wrapping onto multiple lines

Individual button properties; width

Situations Where You Want One Of The Other 2 button block options

The buttons block is great for most, simple button needs. There are some specific situations where you might want to use one of the other two button block options.

The button list is a gridded option we created custom to resolve 2 issues not addressed by other button options:

1. Multiple buttons in one row being of equal height regardless of content.

2. Buttons not otherwise directly connecting to the media library, which button list does.

Also if you want/need to have icons in your buttons, then buttons (adv) is currently the only button option that supports that.
