Overview
Headings are elements (expressed as h1 > h6) and convey structure (titles and subtitles), and help organize content within a page. Headings follow a strict hierarchy, which you should make every effort to maintain, to keep your site as accessible as possible. h1 is reserved for the page title, and should be the only h1 on the page. h2 is used for major sections within the page. h3 is used for subsections of h2, and so on.
An important thing to remember is that although you see a difference in (visual) size between the headings, this is not how they should be chosen. Visual styling can and should be accomplished without jumping around Heading types on the page.
To add a heading to your page type /heading, or utilize the block toolbar to select heading. Add your heading content.
If you want to keep the hierarchy of headings correct and ADA compliant but wish for the size of the block to be slightly larger, or slightly smaller:
- Add your heading block
- Add your heading content
- Select that heading block
- click on the down arrow in the block menu
- Choose subscript for smaller, or superscript for larger
