Routes alerts are specific to transit routes and is separate from the Website Alerts.
While your site may be connected to auto-generating alerts from your real time data, if you have real-time data, these instructions are specific to how to manually add route alerts.
Routes Alerts are found here in the transit section of your CMS navigation:

Route Alerts allow you to select which routes are impacted, their post date and expiration date. The route alerts then automatically are displayed throughout the website.

Title
The title should summarize the alert. Pick a consistent format. Something like The routes impacted - if it's a delay or a detour.

Effective Date
This date impacts when an alert starts showing on the homepage, so if it's in the future the homepage and route detail pages won't show it. However, on the routes alerts page and routes directory, it shows the alert, even if it's in the future. It will, however, list when in the future the alert begins.

Archive Date
Archive date is when the alert is auto changed to draft status. It will then not appear anywhere on the site.

Impacted Routes
Select all the routes impacted by your alert. It will then show up on those route listings and pages.

Alert Details
The alert details show up on every occurrence of the route listing, except the homepage. Make it as long as you need.
